Festival of Lights in Sukhothai

The Sukhothai city located in north central of Thailand, 440km from Bangkok celebrates the Festival of Lights, known as Loi Krathong festival, from 21 to 25 of November. This festival or tradition comes from the royal rituals of the early Rattanakosin era in which several kind of lanterns were set floating in the Chao Phraya River and its channels. When the full moon of the twelfth lunar month lights up, hundreds of thousands of sumptuously decorated of traditional banana leaf floats are floating in rivers. This is a wonderful show of lights!
